Autoctonos
Piece for four performers and one pianist
Efficiency, profitability, productivity... Regionalism, nationalism, populism... Such concepts suffocate the (already very anemic) notion of “us”, and worsen the obesity of an “I” that is increasingly narcissistic and closed in on itself... This is a very sombre observation about an era which nonetheless rejects the negative as much as possible, worshipping at the altar of the “super-positive”. An era in which it is no longer a matter of solving problems but of finding solutions, where there are no more blind people, only the visually impaired, no more people in exile or refugees but migrants...
These items for reflection served as a slipway for Autóctonos, a scenic raft onto which Ayelen Parolin invited five strong personalities, each very singular: pianist-composer Lea Petra, alongside choreographers and performers Ondine Cloez, Varinia Canto Vila, Aymara Parola and Sophia Rodriguez. This voluntarily eclectic crew set off on a voyage to an intangible war where structure and spontaneity, the animal and the political, the essential and the absurd are brought into focus. It was a deliberate choice for this project which rose to the formal challenge of digging into this surplus ambient positivity which flattens, evens, and equalizes the complexity in essence chaotic of all things. In other words, it set itself the task of orchestrating a complex, plural “whole”, cheerfully playing on excess, instability and dissonances.
For a dive into a communal failure, leading to implosion.
